22 Players and 1 ball. 90 minutes.

Your share of that ball will only amount to a few minutes in each game

so when a ball comes to you make the most of it, dont let it get away Control it quickly and completely

however way it comes to you fast slow or low high

The secret of trapping is to treat the ball gently, cushion it, relax the part of the body used so that it gives slightly as it meets the ball

The most frequent;y used trap is made with the inside of the foot. The foot is turned out and raised two inches to meet center of the ball The outside of the foot the sole and the instep can make a catch with the foot

Its not necessary to stop the ball dead, redirecting the ball but still keeping it close to you. Turning with the ball can save time and decieve opponents

if the ball is correctly cushioned, it looks like a trap.

Even when you are moving trapping is a gentle art. The ball must be taken in stride and pushed ahead of you.

Trapping is not just for the feet. Your whole body must be ready to recieve the ball

a dropping ball can be received with the thigh

Higher balls are for chest traps

leaning relaxing as the ball strikes making it bounce gently up and then to the ground where you can control it for your next move

Using the chest to trap the ball may mean leaning back to recieve the ball or leaning over the ball

When the ball takes odd bounces you have to use whatever part of your body you can to trap it. your shins especially on bumpy grounds, or your stomach

The most exciting the most spectacular, the most difficult is dribbling. Dribbling is the art of moving the ball past opponents while maintaing close control. It doesnt come easily because it isnt just one skill. Its many skill. Ball control balance speed acceleration body movement, add confidence and experience

The ability to change direction suddenly, to move quickly to the left and to the right and take the ball with you.

The idea is to decieve your opponent. Make him think youre going one way with a fake feint for foot movement, then take the ball the other way.

Often times it isnt necessary to play the ball, a sudden lunge of the body is enough to fool the opponents.

Balance is the key to these moves. Watch how players stay crouched. crouches over the ball knees bent.

Foot movements are another way to deceive the opponent. Of making him move the wrong way. Passing the foot over the ball. Playing the ball to get him off your balance. To keep him guessing

Dribbling requires sensitive control of the ball

The front part of the inside and the outside of the foot

Its not speed so much that matters in dribbling as much acceleration. The ability to change pace unexpectedly. The goal is to burst past your opponents with a sudden rush of speed.

Sudden starts can fool your opponent and sudden stops can fool them too.

Dribbling is deceptive and trickery. Getting the ball past your opponent any way you can if you cant go left of right then go through the middle.

Your goal is to move past left or right

Keep your body between your opponent and the ball

You cant beat the whole team by yourself There is a time to dribble and a time to pass

Every player has their own style

Scrappy, short steps, long strides, stop the ball, others like to use body movements.

Juggling is one of the essential skills for a soccer player. It’s important for young beginning players, and for rising stars as well. Juggling teaches you how to control the ball with almost every part of your body.

You will feel at ease with the ball and develop confidence. That confidence is the essential starting point for developing your soccer skills.

There was a time when the ball didnt always obey him. It was only ahours of lonely practice that gave him the skill. Sometimes a ball wasnt always available. He had to make do with whatever he could like a grapefruit.

You dont see pele juggling on the field So what is the point of learning a skill that can never be used when it matters. ball juggling is full of essential soccer skills

Juggling is full of essential soccer skills

Concentration

Balance: Your arms and core must help with your balance as your feet are busy with the ball. Your body must learn how to constantly adjust to the movement of the ball.

Learn how to be two footed

Touch: the ability to use the right amount of strength, gentle or hard, in order to make the ball do what you want .

A skill that can be practiced anywhere anytime. A private thing between you and the ball. Or it can be you and a friend.

It will be something that you learn and develop in your own way and in your style. Soccer truly is a beautiful game.
